This retreat is designed to combine a San Diego summer vacation with a comprehensive flute retreat. It is intended to be equal parts relaxation, learning and growth, fun, and social connection. Since San Diego is a premier vacation destination in June, accommodations locally average over $400/night during the week of our retreat. The San Diego Flute Retreat makes a vacation and a flute retreat possible by setting a price point that is a great value for both combined.
No. All-inclusive options include your accommodation, meals and drinks (non-alcoholic) prepared by a private chef on site, and flute retreat sessions. However, we will facilitate an optional group messaging thread a few days before the retreat starts so that local retreat facilitators can chat with out-of-town flutists to arrange pick-ups from San Diego International Airport or Amtrak Santa Fe Depot. Pick-ups aren’t guaranteed, but we’ll try our best to accommodate you.
If you’ve booked one of the all-inclusive retreat options, you’ll want to consider bringing anything that you would normally bring on a vacation. Keep in mind that you will have access to the ocean and an on-site jacuzzi. It can get chilly by the beach after sunset, a sweater is a good idea. In terms of the day flute retreat, you’ll certainly need your flute and any flute accessories that you normally use.
Of course! For inclusive retreat guests, a variety of self-serve breakfast items available. For day retreat guest, lunches and dinners will be prepared on-site each day. Please let us know of food allergies or dietary needs.
This retreat is best for late beginners through advanced players. Our workshops will cover topics that range from orchestral audition prep to rebuilding embouchure strength, and participants are welcomed to the workshops and ensembles that they deem the best fit for them. If you are an absolute beginner who has never played the flute before, this may not be the retreat for you. But if you are reconnecting with your instrument after some time away from playing, this retreat is absolutely for you.
This is an adults-only retreat. If you add-on a companion, it would be best to bring a flutist so that they can fully participate in the retreat. If you have any questions about our companion policy, drop us a line so we can chat about it.
No pets or support animals are allowed on the property, so please leave your four-leggers at home for this week.
Although we understand that life is busy, prices are set to include the property rental, private chef, guest artist and clinician fees. As such, prorated event prices are not an option. We do hope to make this an annual event, so be on the look out for the 2025 San Diego Flute Retreat dates.
Get in touch with us directly if you would like to discuss need-based sliding scale options.
